The People page is a public directory of every member: what they own, what they've rated, what they've played. It's also how you find trade partners and people with similar taste, though actually contacting someone still happens through Marketplace or Messages, not from here.

What's on the page
Following: members you follow, with an option to unfollow.
Trade matches for you: members whose "For Trade" list overlaps with your wishlist, narrowed to people in your country or opted into international shipping. This section is read-only: to get in touch, find their listing in the Marketplace and use "Contact seller" there.
Similar collectors: the ten members whose collections and ratings most closely match your own.
Leaderboard: the five members with the largest collections.
Search: find someone by name or @handle.
The main list: every member, collapsed by default into a card showing how many games they have in each status. Click one to expand it and see their actual game lists per status, plus a Statistics section with the same kind of reports BoardGameGeek offers: Top Rated Games, Largest Disparities, Overrated Games, Underrated Games, Five & Dimes, Played & Unrated, and Played & Uncommented, all computed for that person specifically.
Following someone
Click "+ Follow" on their card (or "Following" to undo it). Following someone surfaces their activity on your home page.
